Some years ago (a few more than I care to admit) my first editor’s 3-year-old died from E.coli contamination. I didn’t know Maggie well, but I liked her. Not long after she bought my first book, Angel of Fire, she took a hiatus from the publishing industry for a job she loved more—raising her son. Later, after the death of her son, I felt connected to her in a way only a mom can connect with another. (more…)

Dallas in July

Sometimes you just need to be reminded why you love to do the things you do. This past weekend, the RWA was in town, and wow, I’d forgotten how great it felt to sync with like minds. And I spent the entire weekend with one of my favorite people on the face of the earth – my agent – she’s always believed in me and has remained my greatest advocate. And isn’t that what RWA is all about? Connecting with fellow writers who inspire you to keep on typing, despite that life has a way of dragging you out of your favorite desk chair? (more…)
