Something I wrote a few years ago. It’s deeply personal, but thought I’d share anyway …”
What’s Keepin’ That Book?
OK, so I’m working on it, but, like too many, I seem to bite off more than I can chew … or maybe not so much more than I can chew, but it just keeps other projects at the nonworking end of the writing production line. Still, this article was fun and; so I’m sharing. Check out my August’s article on Janine Turner and her lovely daughter Juliette. And I’m working on a second book idea (that really has me excited after watching Inception!). If you haven’t seen that movie, run, don’t walk! It’s fabulous.
Friends, Don’t Let Friends Text and Drive
So, all is well, but I had an accident this weekend. The kid was texting. I sat there looking at him, punching away at his mobile keyboard while we waited for help. He was alive, just a little shaken, otherwise OK, despite slamming into the rear of my car at 65 mph. His car was totaled. He could have been my son. He was about the same age. He could have hit my son … or my daughter. The outcome could have been so much worse … I saw his text … “I don’t know dude, I looked down, then I looked up. Wham!” Who’s next? And will the outcome be as sunny?
Sign the pledge folks. And please, don’t text and drive. I’m signing it now …
For My Love…
A dream
I had
Mislaid between blue days, black nights. It never quite went away,
Just forgotten amidst appointments, disappointments and lovers gone astray.
A smile
It lingers
A seductive hint of nostalgia gently turning the lips of every passing stranger
Memories, refusing to be closeted, peer back defiantly as I shuffle empty hangers. (more…)
When Food Kills
Some years ago (a few more than I care to admit) my first editor’s 3-year-old died from E.coli contamination. I didn’t know Maggie well, but I liked her. Not long after she bought my first book, Angel of Fire, she took a hiatus from the publishing industry for a job she loved more—raising her son. Later, after the death of her son, I felt connected to her in a way only a mom can connect with another. (more…)
The Medievel Chronicle Ventures Online
medievals
adjective
2 Novels about the Middle Ages, the Dark Ages, Dark-Age; or Gothic eras, which focus on a time that, at its darkest core, is a wellspring of romantic possibilities and noble beginnings.
Anyone who reads or writes medievals does so because they love the era, and, I believe it’s because we’re inspired by the romance at its coeur. In a time that, by all modern standards, we can only describe as barbaric, chivalry is born, the seeds of democracy are reborn, and the future, imbued with great, new possibilities, shines as bright as the former ages were dark. The Medieval Chronicle is a tiny leadened window into that era, and through the eyes of its publisher, and the writers who lend their pens to its pages, we can look back to see where hope was conceived, where character was forged and where the future was envisioned.
